"Catherine" by Magic Man
My heart is heavy tonight because it’s holding yours inside of it. She was the one that held you by the throat. I was once held the same way. She reminds me of $10 bills slipped into shelves and convenience store bathrooms and not-quite-shoplifting because she made you buy her pregnancy tests. You knew it wouldn’t be yours and you did it anyways. You came so close. You thought you were in love and that never scared you like it should have. I was never scared either. We had faith, but it wasn’t the same faith. And I’m heavy with two spines from the same book.
"I Can Lift a Car" by Walk the Moon
My heart is heavy tonight because it’s holding yours inside of it. I never cried when I heard this song until today. I feel like I’m losing you, or I’ve lost you. We’re on opposite sides of the country and you’re still shying away from me. And I miss you. So damn much. So much more than I should, having texted you just four hours ago. But you’ve been gone so long and I’m hoping at some point you’ll notice. I hope that some turn you took back there was a wrong one and you’ll find your way again. You remind me too much of nostalgia to leave me now.
